Operational playbooks for K-12 district technology teams: procurement, coaching, and infrastructure protocols a technology director can hand off on Monday morning.
The shirt does not say grow together. It says LET’S ROOT FOR EACH OTHER AND WATCH EACH OTHER GROW, and it wraps that sentence around four smiling root vegetables — a carrot, a radish, a beet, and an onion — each drawn with its roots visible in soil. The wording and the drawing are doing […]
Every August, the same thing happens in districts of 1,000 to 10,000 students. New teachers arrive on a Monday. They have two days of district orientation, one building day, and then students walk in. Somewhere in that window, a five-person technology team is supposed to hand each of them a login, a device, a learning […]
There is a period at the end of the word. That is the first thing I notice, and it is the thing that keeps the shirt from being merely quiet. The garment preview shows very small, centered lowercase meh. lettering on a dark shirt. No animal illustration. No slogan wrapped around a mascot. No exclamation […]
The shirt shows four words in white capitals — I HAD POTENTIAL — above a white curved ramp that descends from an upper-left ledge to a lower-right flat. At the top of the ramp, on the ledge, sits a dashed empty circle. At the bottom, resting on the flat, sits a solid white ball. The […]
The first thing I notice is the hand. Not the words — the words are loud enough, set in the blocky, condensed capitals that public signage uses when it has given up on being polite. NOT FRIENDLY DO NOT TOUCH, stacked and centered. But the hand is what does the work. It is a simple […]
The first thing I notice is the period. The shirt reads meh. — lowercase, bold, white against a dark ground — and that final dot is doing more work than the four letters in front of it. Without the period, meh is a sound. With it, meh is a verdict. The period closes the sentence, […]
The first thing I notice is the label. Not the ghost, not the pumpkin — the white ruled rectangle near the top of the printed cover, with COMPOSITION set in that flat, slightly condensed sans-serif that has been on school supply lists for decades. Below it, inside the ruled lines, an outlined ghost and a […]
Login counts are the easiest number to put in a board packet and the easiest number for a board member to dismiss. A slide that says “4,812 platform logins this year” tells the board that teachers touched a tool. It does not tell them whether instruction changed, whether the $70,000 coaching position produced anything a […]
The shirt reads I WEAR THIS SHIRT PERIODICALLY, and beneath the sentence sit four periodic-table-style tiles: 53 I, 74 W, 22 Ti, 16 S. Read the symbols in order and you get I W Ti S. That is not the word periodically. It is not a word at all. The tiles are a diagram of […]
The first thing I notice is the board. Above the bird, in heavy block capitals, the shirt reads GOT TOO SILLY. Below that, a white goose-like bird stands in an orange prison uniform, holding a black mugshot board against its chest. The board is blank. No name, no number, no booking date. Just a black […]
The first thing I notice is that the roots are drawn. Four root vegetables — carrot, radish, beet, onion — sit in a band of soil, each with a face, each with its taproot or bulb visible below the surface. The words LET’S ROOT FOR EACH OTHER AND WATCH EACH OTHER GROW wrap around them […]
The first thing I notice on the garment preview is not the word. It is the period. A very small, centered, lowercase meh. sits on a dark shirt, and the punctuation is doing more work than the letters. Without the period, meh is a sound. With it, meh. is a verdict — a complete sentence […]
